Transaction Terms

These terms explain how payments, subscriptions, refunds, fees, and creator payouts work on Khampos.

Last updated: 9 August 2026

These Transaction Terms apply whenever a member purchases, or a creator sells, a paid offering on KHAMPOS, including memberships, subscriptions, courses, events, and digital products. They supplement, and form part of, our Terms of Service. This document is one of seven policies that together govern use of KHAMPOS: Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Transaction Terms, Support Center, and Contact Us. They should be read together.

01

1. Roles

The creator is the seller of record for offerings they list. KHAMPOS provides the platform, checkout experience, and integration with third-party payment providers, but is not a party to the underlying contract between member and creator unless explicitly stated.

02

2. Payment Methods

Payments may be made using any payment method supported by the platform and the creator's selected payment provider, for example Stripe or Paystack. Card details are handled by the payment provider in line with applicable security standards, such as PCI-DSS. KHAMPOS does not store full card numbers.

03

3. Platform Fees - 0%

KHAMPOS charges 0% platform fee on transactions and takes no commission on sales. Creators keep 100% of what their buyers pay, before the payment provider's own processing fees.

Two costs sit outside that. First, Stripe or Paystack charge their own standard processing fee for handling each transaction; these are set by the provider, not by KHAMPOS. Second, creating a community and selling on KHAMPOS requires a paid creator subscription plan. That subscription is billed separately and is a flat charge that does not rise with your sales volume.

04

4. Pricing, Currencies, and Taxes

Creators set the price and currency of their offerings. The price shown at checkout is the price the member pays, plus any applicable taxes. Taxes may be calculated and collected by KHAMPOS or the payment provider depending on the jurisdiction. Creators are responsible for the accuracy of their pricing and for their own tax obligations on income earned through the platform.

05

5. Subscriptions and Renewals

Recurring memberships and subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period using the payment method on file, until cancelled. Members may cancel at any time through their account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated.

06

6. Cancellations and Refunds

Refund policy for a paid offering is set entirely by the creator, not by KHAMPOS. A creator may choose a "no refunds" policy, a full-refund policy, a time-limited policy, or anything in between. KHAMPOS does not require a minimum refund window and does not impose a platform-wide refund rule on top of a creator's own policy, except where a refund is required by mandatory consumer-protection law.

Creators are encouraged to state their refund policy clearly in their community rules or at the point of sale, so members can see it before joining or purchasing.

KHAMPOS simply provides the tool. A creator can choose to issue a full or partial refund to a member at any time, entirely at the creator's own discretion. This is available as an option for creators who want it, not a requirement placed on any creator.

KHAMPOS may, at its own discretion, separately refund a transaction in cases of fraud, duplicate charge, technical error, or to comply with regulatory obligations.

07

6A. How a Refund Actually Works

KHAMPOS uses Stripe Direct Charges and Paystack subaccounts for payouts. This means a sale is charged directly to the creator's own connected account. The creator is the merchant of record for the transaction, and the funds never sit in a KHAMPOS-controlled balance, even momentarily.

Because of this, a refund is not paid out of a KHAMPOS balance. A creator can issue a refund for any of their sales directly from their KHAMPOS dashboard. Initiating a refund instructs Stripe or Paystack to reverse the charge on the creator's own connected account, and the funds are returned from that account to the member's original payment method.

Practically, this means:

  • The refunded amount is debited from the creator's connected Stripe or Paystack account, not from KHAMPOS;
  • If the sale has already been paid out to the creator's bank account, Stripe or Paystack automatically debits the creator's available balance for future payouts or, where the balance is insufficient, collects the shortfall from the creator's linked bank account directly. This is handled by the provider's own systems, not manually by KHAMPOS;
  • Payment-processor fees on the original transaction are generally not returned by the provider, even when the sale itself is refunded in full. This is a Stripe/Paystack policy, not a KHAMPOS one;
  • Refund timing to the member depends on the provider and the member's bank, typically 5-10 business days.
08

6B. Insufficient Balance for a Refund

If a creator's connected account does not have enough balance to cover a refund, for example because funds were already paid out to their bank, the creator is responsible for ensuring the refund can still be completed. This may include the payment provider debiting a future payout, charging a linked bank account, or, where the provider allows, KHAMPOS restricting further payouts until the shortfall is resolved.

A creator who repeatedly cannot cover refunds or chargebacks may have their payout method or account restricted.

09

7. Chargebacks and Disputes

If a member believes a charge is incorrect, they should contact the creator first. Filing a chargeback before attempting to resolve a dispute may result in account restrictions. KHAMPOS cooperates with payment providers in chargeback investigations and may share transaction information with them.

10

8. Creator Payouts - Direct to Your Account

KHAMPOS does not hold creator funds in a platform wallet. Creators connect a payout method under Earnings in their dashboard, choosing one of:

  • Bank account - payouts sent directly to the creator's bank;
  • Stripe - payouts routed through the creator's connected Stripe account;
  • Paystack - payouts routed through the creator's connected Paystack account.

Funds from a sale go directly to the creator's connected account through the relevant provider's infrastructure. Payout timing, minimums, and currency support are determined by the selected provider, or the creator's bank, and may vary by country. Creators are responsible for keeping their connected payout information accurate and up to date.

11

9. Provider-Level Holds

Because payouts route directly through Stripe, Paystack, or a bank, KHAMPOS does not itself place reserves or holds on creator funds. However, Stripe, Paystack, or a bank may independently apply a hold, reserve, or delay under their own risk and compliance policies - for example, in cases of suspected fraud or unusual chargeback activity. Any such hold is governed by that provider's terms, not KHAMPOS's.

KHAMPOS may still suspend or restrict a creator's access to the platform, independent of payout status, where required by law or where there is a reasonable belief of fraud or a breach of these Terms.

12

10. Member Responsibilities

Members must ensure the payment method used is authorised and that billing information provided is accurate. Members are responsible for any taxes, currency-conversion fees, or other charges imposed by their card issuer or bank.

13

11. Creator Responsibilities

Creators must:

  • Provide accurate descriptions, pricing, and delivery terms for their offerings;
  • Deliver paid offerings as described;
  • Honour applicable consumer-protection laws, including refund and cancellation rights;
  • Maintain appropriate records for tax and accounting purposes;
  • Keep their connected payout account, such as bank, Stripe, or Paystack, valid and accessible.
14

12. Suspension of Transactions

KHAMPOS may suspend or reverse transactions where required by law, by a payment provider, or where there is a reasonable belief of fraud, breach of these Terms, or harm to users.
